Fred writes, “I started piano lessons when I was 9 and started playing pipe organ in a large Catholic church when I was 12. The Catholicism didn't take but the love of loud keyboards did. My sister turned me on to The Beatles and later Jethro Tull’s ‘A Passion Play’ which imbued me with a love of prog which I have pursued ever since. ELP made me realize that keyboards could be really cool even while also being embarrassing and ridiculous, and more important, that they could be even louder than pipe organs.
“In 1992 I met Steve Babb and Glass Hammer was born. It continues to this day, and we also write, produce and record commercially for our studio Sound Resources. In addition, I am currently active in the Praise band at Calvary Chapel in Chattanooga.”
